Clay With “Alminstrox” Class

The children from Alminstone and Stroxworthy classes who aren’t on the Paignton Residential had a great morning working with local potter, Phillip Leach.
First we looked at pottery used by the ancient greeks- for everything from storing olive oil and flour (in a Pithoi) to dead bodies! (in a Larnax)
Then we made our own Pithoi pinch pots and coil pots…
After that, our biggest challenge- to combine two pinch pots to make an elephant…
We made quite a herd!
Tomorrow, we’re forming a school orchestra… should be a little cleaner but just as much fun!
Best day ever! The best bit was making the pots :)
Amazing looking elephants !!
