Supporting the RNLI

We’ve had a great morning with crew members from Clovelly RNLI. Martel and Sam talked to us about what the Institution do and how it started and then we looked at a crewmember’s kit.

The kit keeps the crewmember warm and dry. The helmet is very important because the Clovelly boat is an open boat. The helmet has a microphone and headset so the crew can hear each other. It also has a red torch to keep night vision strong. The visor means the crew can see what they’re doing even if the wash and spray is in their face.

This is a special beacon so that rescuers can find a crewmember if they’reĀ  washed out of the boat.

Mr Cole even got to try everything on… it was very hot!
