Wattle and Daub Part 2

Last week Ashmansworthy Class made the frame for the wattle and daub wall section out of hazel and willow. This week we were helped by Sunflowers to mix up the mud and straw and daub it over the frame. It was more difficult than it looked as we had to get the consistency of the mud and straw right or it wouldn’t stick. The children enjoyed mixing it with their feet (boots on today!), and smearing it over the willow. We had to turn the mixture and knead it to get a good mix. They are now drying in the yurt.
