Launching our Rockets

After successfully building our rockets today, we got ready for the launching. After a few false starts, we watched them shoot up high into the air, before the parachute was deployed for a gentle touch down. Well, that was what was supposed to have happened…

Of the few parachutes that did open, the gentle breeze delicately blew them into the adjacent field where they now adorn the oak tree. The larger rockets didn’t fly quite so high, and embedded themselves in the grass when they landed.

Despite all this, it was very exciting to watch the rockets flying up into the sky, and trying to guess where they would land. John will be back on Tuesday morning to launch the last few rockets with the children.
