Gross science

Yesterday in science, Alminstone class used the resources provided to make their own digestive system.  We started by adding crackers, banana (food), orange juice (acid), and water (saliva) to the plastic bag (stomach).  Next, we mixed this around mimicking the action of the stomach wall squashing our food together. Following this we poured it into the tights (small intestine).  As the food was squeezed through the tights, all the nutrients needed for growth and energy flowed into the tray (body).  The things that the body can’t digest was left in the tights.  This was then transferred to a paper cup (large intestine) and pushed through a small hole to represent the act of going to the toilet.  It smelt horrible!
