Rope-making in forest school

Ashmansworthy began the task of making rope out of nettle fibres today in forest school. After collecting suitably aged nettles, they had to strip them of their leaves and bash the stems to separate the fibres from the pith. Next week the long strands of nettle will be twisted into rope and used for lashing.
