Closure of Woolsery Primary School

19th March 2020

Dear Parents and Children,

I can’t begin to tell you how sad we are to be following the instruction from the Department for Education to close Woolsery Primary School at the end of the week. As a staff team we want, more than anything, to be working alongside your children here in school but that is clearly no longer possible.

This move isn’t a surprise, and we have spent much of the last week making preparations for maintaining education in our community despite having no school to meet in. If you have not already done so, please could I urge you to check your child is able to log in to Google Classroom so that they are able to access our “virtual school” and continue with their learning journey. If your child is well, the presumption is that they will continue accessing their school work via the Google Classroom portal. Instructions for logging in can be found on the Links page and on the Newsletters page under the 16th March Covid-19 article. I have asked staff to set a maths and English task every day for children in Year 1 to 6, as well as other tasks in the foundation subjects.  Instructions on how to use Google Classroom once you have logged in are being sent home today and is also posted in the Newsletter section of our Website.

At the present time, we do not know when schools will reopen, but we are given to believe that the closure will be substantially more than just a few weeks.  Please keep in touch with the school via our weekly Newsletters, which will continue on Fridays, and through our online presence.

For those who will still be coming on to site as part of our Key Worker Emergency Cover programme, we will be opening an online booking process so we know when to expect children. The link to the Google form is on the Newsletter section of our website or via this link:

In the meantime, please stay safe with your families and we very much look forward to welcoming you and your children into the school once again in the future,

With very best wishes
