Stroxworthy Science

This week we have started our new topic investigating ‘What is light?’. Today we tried to answer the question carrying out different experiments. Using an upturned card board box with items underneath, we made some holes and then looked in the box to see what we could see. We then added more and more holes checking inside the box each time to see what we could see. We then used a torch to shine in the holes and see what we could see.

To conclude our lesson we made whizzer spinners which showed us that light is not just one colour but 7 different colours. When we spun our spinner we could see just one colour – although it took some practise.

Our conclusions were that light only shines in a straight line and is the fastest thing on planet earth! Even faster than a cheetah!
