Forest School Burford Woods

This half term, the children in Gorwood class have been doing forrest school with Louise Grout. Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

In the sessions, the children have had the chance to make together making shelters, dream catchers, whittling, painting and  made willow wreaths and many more.

At Burford wood, children explored  and built dens in the morning. After finding base camp it was time to practice some fire making skills using a flint and steel. A huge well done to children who ignited the fire (Brody, Isaiah and Sydney). After a morning of adventuring, Mrs Barnes supervised some children as they  chopped and prepared the vegetable for our soup which was surprisingly delicious. To go along with the soup the children made damper bread. To finish of the day the children roasted marshmallows on the fire and made s’mores.
