Anti Bullying Week
Next week is national anti-bullying week. All of our schools will be holding a range of events throughout the week to give the children the opportunity to explore what anti-bullying means and reflect on how we treat each other kindly. This year’s theme from the Anti Bullying Alliance is Reach Out. If you would like to know more you can visit the Anti Bullying alliance website here: https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week/anti-bullying-week-2022-reach-out
On Monday, to start the Anti Bullying Week off, we will be having an Odd Socks Day. This is purely to raise awareness of individuality and we aren’t looking for any financial contribution.

All three schools will be presenting Christmas Performances at the end of the term in their respective Village Halls. These will be:

Wednesday 7th December at 1:45pm Wednesday 7th December at 6:30pm Thursday 8th December at 6:30pm |
For Woolsery only: As usual tickets will be allocated for performances at Woolsery Village Hall in order to comply with fire regulations. These are free but there is no entry without a ticket. Please complete the google form HERE to book your tickets.

Goodbye, Ms Peter!
Ms Peter leaves us today to begin her maternity leave ahead of the birth of her twins. We with Loyce the very best and will wait for exciting news in a few weeks’ time. The children gave Ms Peter a good send-off in assembly this morning and presented her with flowers, a card and voucher.
Well done to eveyone who was presented with a Headteacher’s Award today in recognition of developing their positive learning behaviours which are represented by our six Learning Animals:
Orleigh: Zach (tortoise)– for being resilient and trying really hard to form his letters correctly and write his name; Maddie (dolphin)– for diving into her learning and enjoying exploring her sounds in the provision and using them in reading sessions
Tythecott: Wren (dolphin) – A fantastic diving dolphin, well done Wren your enthusiasm and engagement has been brilliant this week; George (spider) – Being a fantastic Spider and making links with your Maths learning, keep it up George.
Gorwood: Lucas (dolphin) -diving into learning in his maths and working at home with adults to improve; Aubri (cat)- asking questions and participating more in class
Foxdown: Robson (spider) – For making links and connections. Robson has worked hard this week using a ten frame and working systemically to find number bonds for ten. He was able to notice patterns between the number bonds he found; Leo (dolphin) – Leo has worked hard to master the skill of blending to read words. This week he showed us how he can blend in his head, saying just the word not the phonemes out loud. Veronika Foshchan (bee) – Veronika has settled well and has made lots of new friends in Foxdown Class – well done!
Melbury: Tyler (bee) – Tyler worked co-operatively with his group in Science, starting to solve our science crime; Oli (owl) – Understanding the Learning Journey. Oli has used his knowledge of addition and subtraction to help his understanding of money. Well done
Goldworthy: Lacie (spider) – for being very thoughtful to make links and connections in your learning; Bodhi (dolphin) – for being engaged in your science learning and producing a detailed drawing of the digestive system.
Sunflowers: Mollie – participation in circle time numbers; Rafferty – for his amazing answers in circle time
Cranford: Lucas for remembering so many facts in history about aeroplanes; Ezra for having an amazing understanding of Remembrance Day and telling all the children about it.
Burscott: Thomas (spider) – making links in his learning by writing a poem at home in the style of the poem we have been learning in class; Robyn (bee) – for showing great kindness and empathy to her friends
Stroxworthy: Oliver (tortoise) – for being resilient and consistently improving his handwriting; Jake (cat) – for being curious and asking questions with confidence during his first weeks in Stroxworthy class
Alminstone: Finley (tortoise) – being resilient with sawing and constructing gardening beds in the poly tunnels with Mrs Grout; Lilly (bee) – working together at the tag rugby competition
Ashmansworthy: Millie (bee) – for collaborating patiently and helpfully with others during computing sessions; Paddy (spider) – for working out and using times tables well beyond 12×12 to help him solve long division problems

The Buckland Brewer Church Christingle is on Sunday 4th December at 4 pm, there will be 2 rehearsals for children wanting to take part, after school in the church schoolroom on Wednesday 23rd and Wednesday 30th November, we would love to see you there.
Thank you Betty. I have put this in next week’s Newsletter for you. Unfortunately this clashes with the Clovelly Christmas Lights switch-on which I am already committed to attending with Woolsery School so won’t be there myself. Best wishes, Matt Cole.
