Designing Nutritious Meals

In science this week, we have been learning about nutrition. We learnt about food groups and designed healthy, balanced meals using Plasticine.

The Water Cycle

We have been learning about the stages of the water cycle; evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. We acted it out and then represented the water cycle with a paper plate collage.

Outdoor Learning

Today in maths we practised mental methods of addition and subtraction in the playground. We took turns to throw beanbags into hoops with different scores which we had to add together . If our beanbag landed outside a hoop, we subtracted points. It was good fun!

Monster Stones Freeze Frames

We have been learning how dinosaur fossils are formed through the story’Monster Stones’. We performed freeze frames of some of our favourite parts of the story.

Learning about Islam

This afternoon we have been learning about pilgrimages. We found out about ‘Hajj’ (the 5th pillar of Islam; pilgrimage to Mecca). We then thought about Christian pilgrimage and talked about special journeys that we have been on. During s ome reflection time, we coloured Islamic patterns, choosing colours that are meaningful to us.


Some of us have been exploring 2D and 3D shape through making models.

Health Ambassador Cookery Club

This week we made mini crustless quiches with egg, tomato, onion and cheese. They were scrumptious!

Cookery Club

This week in cookery club we made guacamole (avocado, lemon juice and coriander) and a minty yogurt dip (Greek yogurt, chopped mint, chopped cucumber and lemon juice). We also made tortilla chips and a variety of crudites. Most people preferred the yogurt dip.

Health Ambassador Cookery Club

This time in cookery club, we made a tasty pasta sauce. It was packed with nutritious ingre dients; courgette, peppers, carrots, onion, garlic and tomatoes. It smelled very tempting as it was cooking and tasted delicious too.

Health Ambassador Cookery Club: Veggie Pitta Pizzas

This week in ‘Health Ambassador Cookery Club’, we made some extremely delicious (and, of course, healthy) ‘Pitta Pizzas’. Colour Mixing

Alminstone class have been experimenting with colour mixing using water colour paint. The challenge was to only use the primary colours (red, yellow and blue) to make different colours; changing the shade slightly each time.


To begin our study of Monet and Impressionism in art, we experimented with and compared the mediums of watercolour and oil paint substitute.

Talk and Walk with Mr Cann

Outdoor Arrays

In maths, we used a range of equipment to make arrays outside. This helped us to develop our understanding of multiplication.

Crafty Club: Rockets

We enjoyed making rocket bookmarks on Friday.

Roman Cakes

We made Roman cakes using flour, spice, almonds, egg, and sugar. They were quite tasty.

Roman Pizza

We made Roman Pizza with a feta cheese and honey topping. Yum or Yuk?!

Roman Honey Cakes

We used an adapted Roman recipe to make some scrumptious honey cakes. The ingredients were; pastry, ricotta cheese and honey.
