The Water Cycle

We have been learning about the stages of the water cycle; evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. We acted it out and then represented the water cycle with a paper plate collage.
Outdoor Learning

Today in maths we practised mental methods of addition and subtraction in the playground. We took turns to throw beanbags into hoops with different scores which we had to add together . If our beanbag landed outside a hoop, we subtracted points. It was good fun!

Learning about Islam

This afternoon we have been learning about pilgrimages. We found out about ‘Hajj’ (the 5th pillar of Islam; pilgrimage to Mecca). We then thought about Christian pilgrimage and talked about special journeys that we have been on. During s ome reflection time, we coloured Islamic patterns, choosing colours that are meaningful to us.

This week in cookery club we made guacamole (avocado, lemon juice and coriander) and a minty yogurt dip (Greek yogurt, chopped mint, chopped cucumber and lemon juice). We also made tortilla chips and a variety of crudites. Most people preferred the yogurt dip.

This time in cookery club, we made a tasty pasta sauce. It was packed with nutritious ingre dients; courgette, peppers, carrots, onion, garlic and tomatoes. It smelled very tempting as it was cooking and tasted delicious too.

Colour Mixing

Alminstone class have been experimenting with colour mixing using water colour paint. The challenge was to only use the primary colours (red, yellow and blue) to make different colours; changing the shade slightly each time.
