- 1 This page contains up to date information about things related to Coronavirus and Woolsery Primary School.
Update: Tuesday 14th December 2021
Dear parents, from today, NHS Test and Trace will be asking you to use lateral flow testing with your child if they have been in close contact with a confirmed Covid Case. These tests should be taken before school for 7 days as directed by NHS Test and Trace and your child should only attend school if the result is negative.
You must inform the school of the result of the test even if it is negative using the following link. The form will also take you to the NHS site to report your child’s result to them as well.

Information sheet for Parents: 2021.08.26_Return to Education_Primary School Leaflet_A5.pdf
School Routines return to normal from Tuesday 7th September:
- There will be no staggered start or finish to the school day. All children should arrive at school in time for an 8:55am start (other than Sunflowers Preschool which begins at 8:45am)
- All children should arrive via the main school gates on Old Market Drive – the lower playground gate will no longer be used for drop off or pick up.
- Parents are once again welcome to come onto the site to drop children off and pick them up, or to drop in to the School Office. All children other than for Preschool should make their way to the Playground from 8:40am onwards and wait for the bell before lining up in new classes. Sunflowers parents should drop off at the yellow gate by the Preschool building.
- At pick up time, which is 3:15pm for all children, Cranford and Burscott Class parents usually wait in the Playground, whilst Stroxworthy, Alminstone and Ashmnasworthy parents usually wait on the top path or by the bike shelter
- All payments for school items will continue to be online only – we will not be able to accept cash, cheque or card payment via the office hatch.
- We are once again requiring all children to have a PE kit in school at all times and to wear full school uniform, including appropriate shoes.
- Children can once again bring personal equipment such as pencil cases into school, although this is not a requirement, and are encouraged to have a water bottle in class.
- Children will all share playtimes and lunchtimes, either on the playground or field depending on the weather. Children can bring a healthy snack for morning break time (no sweets or chocolate, please). We hope to bring back Tasty Tuck Fridays later in September when healthy snacks are served by our School Voice children for 50p per item, but the new Enterprise Voice team will be in touch about that in the first few weeks of term.
- We will be re-starting our full range of after school clubs, including music, sport, dance and art from Monday 13th September and information will be sent out as soon as possible.
We will still be maintaining good ventilation in all classrooms and operating an enhanced hand cleaning and respiratory hygiene regime in school. Covid-19 remains a risk in our community and we ask all parents to continue to be mindfull of this and not send your child to school should they display any symptoms of Covid-19.
Our school routines can be found in the current Risk Assessment* which can be found here:
*this is the last available Risk Assessment issued from DCC in Summer 2021. It is now out of date in terms of many of the school routines described and will be replaced or withdrawn as soon as the Local Authority are able to make our position clear.
If my child or someone in my household has a symptom
It’s really important that you don’t try to second-guess whether your child has covid-related symptoms or not. If they have any of the three recognised symptoms (not all 3) you must book a test even if you believe it’s caused by something else.
- A temperature (feeling warm on back or tummy)
- A loss of taste or smell, or a change in normal taste or smell
- A continuous or new, persistent cough
If the test was for them, your child may not attend school until a negative test result has been received or they have completed a 14 day isolation from the first symptoms developing. (More information below)

Isolating
If you are unable to get to a test (or get your child to a test)
School has a limited number of home test kits which we can only give out in proven need. Please contact school if you have no reasonable alternative to access a test.
Performing a home test:
If you have a home test kit, either from school or from somewhere else, the instruction pack should give you all the information you need. These points are crucial though:
- Each test kit is unique and must be kept together as a set – this includes the instruction booklet which contains the bar code for your test, the vial containing your swabs, the bag containing the vial and the outer box used for postage. Everything other than the instruction booklet must be sent in the same package and must not contain any other kits.
- The package must go into a priority mailbox to be returning. do not just place it in your nearest postbox. Your nearest Priority Postbox can be found on the royal Mail website. Locally to the school they are at:
- Woolsery Post Office
- Bucks Post Office
- Clovelly Visitor Centre
You should only do the test on the day you will be able to get it posted so, for example, if you intend to take the test in the evening, it is better to wait until the following morning and take the test then so that it can go straight off to the Priority Postbox near you without waiting around. You are allowed to leave your home to take the tests to the Priority Postbox but you should not enterf a post office if you are symptomatic.
