Maths in Burscott

In amongst the play rehearsals we have managed to do some maths. We have been learning about measuring. Last week we looked at time. This week we have been comparing lengths and measuring with different units.

We have been working really hard on number bonds to ten and twenty, and also on our numbers to 100. Well done everybody.

Firefighters visit Year 2

Years 2 and 5 had a visit from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. They found out lots of way to keep themselves and their families safe in the event of a fire.

We had fun making our wind socks and testing them. Unfortunately the weather seems to have changed – perhaps we should have made rain gauges first!!

Sprucing up the vegetable garden

Ashmansworthy class worked hard to tidy up the vegetable beds, tidy up the greenhouse and sort out the forest school sheds. Electrical Circuits

Class five have been working hard to consolidate their understanding of circuits. Their challenge was to create a game or activity incorporating a circuit with a bulb, buzzer, motor and switch. Gardening Club

We had lots of fun digging the raised beds today. We were really meant to be weeding but found all sorts of treasure too!

African Batik Printing

Class 5 used images and motifs inspired by their Africa topic to produce a print. Hot wax was used to draw onto the fabric then the colours were added using a powdered dye. Finally the wax was removed using a hot iron and paper towels. The children also made their frame to mount their artwork. […]
