We have had great fun in he Autumn this year in forest a school. We have made scarecrows, mummies in burford wood, woven spiders webs.

Ashmansworthy had lots of fun this half term in forest school. They learnt how to whittle for the first time using our new whittling knives and used the palm drills for the first time too. They cooked loads of interesting things at Burford woods.

Gorwood have had a great first half of term with forest school. We cooked, made scarecrows, learned how to do knots, got creative with gods eyes and weaving spiders webs for halloween.

For our first Forest School session we took advantage of the leaves falling to the ground and created firework pictures using the hapa zome technique. The children enjoyed using the hammers to create different pictures and working out what leaves or grass created the best colour.

Our Burford woods trip this time was based on the stone age the children had so much fun making spears using tools and making pine pitch glue, weaving plates and cooking stone age food.

Non-residential Year 6 week

The class had so much fun today making spears with pine pitch glue, cave dens, weaving plates then eating stone age biscuits cooked on hot stones and stewed fruit.

We had so much fun at Burford Woods this week. Alminstone were amazing and loved all the Stoneage tasks and food. We had spear making with pine pitch glue, hunter gathering games to get get our food. We had cave den building, and cooking on a stone.

This week in Forest school we talked about map and how we use them and also added how compasses work. They had some challenges to work out using the compass and directional language.

Forest school with Sunflowers was exciting we looked at different birds through our binoculars and then decided to make a nest to keep an aggressive safe. We discussed what the egg would need. Then put it in a tree to test its how durable it was.

This week was our last session for the term. We had so much fun making easter cards then changing the rules on traditional games to make them easter themed. They also had some downtime to practice there new calming technique. ‘Take a moment, take a breath’
