Science week ~ ruler hit

Love of Reading : Errol’s Garden (2)

In order to connect to this book, we sang the nursery rhymes; Round and Round the garden and Mary Mary Quite Contrary. We also sang Lavenders Blue and using our senses we explored the lavender in our Welly Garden.

Science week ~ making musical instruments

Today we used boxes and rubber bands to make musical instruments. We worked in pairs and used 3 rubber bands. We then played our instruments separately and all together as a group. We found out that different thicknesses of rubber bands made different sounds!

Science week ~ “jumping” Cheerios, rice and salt!

We covered 3 different sized bowls with clingfilm, put them on top of a speaker then tested to see what happened when we put Cheerios on top and put the music on. Then we tried it with rice, then the salt. Our conclusion was that the Cheerios “jumped” the highest and the best sound to […]

Science week ~ learning about sound waves

This afternoon we banged our tuning forks and then carefully placed them in water to see how sound travels. The vibrations made the water splash, sometimes in our faces!

Music

Today in music Cranford and Sunflowers joined together. We sang Big her funk, If you’re happy and you know it clap and 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed. The children had to sing, dance ,we introduced musical instruments they we all amazing at joining in with the beat😊

PE outside

Today we did our PE outside. We set up an obstacle course where we had to hop and jump in the hoops, go over or under the hurdles, weave in between the cones, balance along the outside of the sandpit and finally the stepping stones ~ all while holding the small hoops in their hands!

SCARF- Healthy eating

Today we talked about healthy eating, why we need to eat food, what food we like and we made some smoothies. The children tried all different flavours and voted on what they liked the best.

Our Trip to Rosemoor (1)

Sunflowers had a wonderful visit to Rosemoor. After an exciting journey on a big, blue bus, we followed a trail through the woods to find a play area.
