Erosion, Transportation and Deposition

Today, the year 4s have been finding out about erosion. We looked at a selection of rocks and tried scraping them to see which would erode most easily. We then investigated transportation and deposition by pouring water down some guttering. We observed what happened to the sediment (rocks and soil). We noticed that the sediment was transported when the water was flowing quickly down the steep part of the river and that when the river lost energy as it flattened out, the sediment was dropped by the water (deposited).
