Investigate air and making clouds

Today in Alminstone, we investigated how much air is inside different solids.  Looking at soil, sand, rocks and sponge we explored how much air was in the gaps.  Using water to replace the air in the spaces, we measured how much liquid was added to work out which had the most and least air inside them.  Following this, we tried to make a cloud in a jar.  We added some hot water and sprayed some hair spray into a jar then secured the lid.  We then placed some ice on top of the lid and inside formed a swirling cloud and after a while a small amount of precipitation fell from the lid.
