Fireworks Update – Still Going Ahead!

Due to the weather forecast this evening, the stalls and refreshments for the Firework Fayre will be in the School Hall and on the Playground so please still come and enjoy the evening even if the rain is heavy! The Fireworks Display is being brough forward to 7pm and so everyone will be able to move up to the field to see the display before heading home. Please remember that there is NO PARKING on Old Market Drive tonight – this is essential so that ambulance access can be assured. Please make arrangements to park elsewhere – you will be able to come on to the school site via the gate at the bottom of the playground. There will be no entry onto the site via the school car park.

Aldi Stickers

A massive thank you to everyone who has sent in Aldi Stickers for the Kit For Schools promotion. I am so happy to say that the poster is now complete, with all 300 stickers in place. This means we get our free kit, and also enter the school into the draw for the £20,000 prize. Please pass on our thanks to the small army of neighbours, grandparents, aunts and uncles who have also been saving the stickers for us – it’s a huge achievement for a school our size to collect so many stickers! Any that we get in from now will be donated to other schools in ACCT who are still collecting.

Wildlife Park

Thank you to all parents and helpers who came along to this week’s Cranford Class and Burscott Class trip to Combe Martin Wildlife Park. The children had an amazing time, getting up close with the Meerkats and meeting the Penguins were two very special highlights. There are lot of pictures on the two Blog Posts if you haven’t already taken a look. We’ve seen some fantastic writing from the children already, recalling their day and linking their experience into their Wild Curriculum learning – thank you to all involved in making this trip possible.

School Voice Stalls

Thank you to all of the Key Stage 2 children who have signed up to help at the Fireworks Fayre on the school’s stalls tonight. A list if times we need your children has gone round to all KS2 classes today so they should have their Helper Time in their white contact book.

Grammar for Parents

As you will know, the requirements for Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation for our children are now very stringent indeed even at Key Stage 1. We know that we are teaching children things that parents (and teachers!!) just didn’t cover when they were at school. To help you out and give you a better insight into what the requirements are for children in each year group, Mrs Kersey will be giving a presentation next Friday morning from 9am which is open to all parents. Tea and coffee will be provided, of course. Just drop in if you’d like to know more.

Poppy Appeal

As we get closer to Remembrance Day, Charity Voice are busy selling poppy-merchandise in classes every day. This is the second or third year the Royal British Legion have taken the decision to not actively sell poppies to children, but to focus on poppy-themed merchandise instead. Items on sale are: wrist bands (£1.00), snap/rulers (£1.50), Reflective poppy tags (50p) and poppy zip pulls (50p). These items are on sale each day next week if you’d like to support this annual appeal.
