Making 9 and 10.

Today we investigated number 9 and 10 using a tens frame.  We worked out how we knew it was a 9 and how we knew it was a 10.  We came up with lots of different ways.  5+4, 8+1, 6+3.  Then for 10 the most popular way 5+5 or counting in 2’s.  Here are a few of our tens frames showing 9 and 10. 

 

Next lesson we sorted cards between a 9 and 10 bucket and explained why we knew it was that number.
