Disasters Emergency Committee Appeal

I am sure you’ve been as shocked as we have to see the terrible effects and loss of life in Turkey and Syria following the recent series of earthquakes.

Charity Voice teams in each school would like to do something to help, which is really commendable and shows the compassion our children have for others.

So that we can run an event quickly and get the money to the DEC as soon as possible, all three schools will be holding a Go Casual For The Quake day on the first Friday after Half Term. We will be accepting any donations for wearing non-school uniform on the day, with a minimum contribution of £1. We are also happy to accept donations from the wider community at this time – everything we raise will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee. Thank you for your support.

Safer Internet Day

Well done to the six children from our Partnership who confidently ran whole-school assemblies this week on internet safety: this was the culmination of work they had carried out at St Mary’s on the Atlantic Coast Co-operative Trust’s workshop day last week.

The children have all been learning more about Internet Safety this week and to match this, Scomis, our Schools internet support provider, have produced the following useful Newsletter for parents… OLSNewsletterparentsFeb2023-1e88f767

World Book Day

World Book Day comes around very soon after half term! As usual, the children will receive a voucher which can be spent in book shops, usually on the offical World Book Day publications.

This year we will not be asking children to dress up on world book day so please don’t go to the expense of buying things to dress your child in. However we will be running a creative competition which we think the children will thoroughly enjoy

Potatoes At The Ready!

Yes, you read that right. This year, we will be holding a competition in each school to bring in the best BOOK CHARACTER  potato creation. As you can see from the photos below, we’re setting our expectations pretty high and inviting children to turn a simple RAW potato (hopefully a nice big one!) into a character from a book they have enjoyed. The more imaginative the better but please limit your child’s entries to a SINGLE potato – this can be on its own or on a small stand or scene – see the examples below. It should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and the character they are portraying. These will be on display in school for as long as the potatoes stay in reasonable shape.

There will be prizes in each school for the top three entries in KS1/EYFS and in KS2. Entries should be brought in on World Book Day, 2nd March and not before, please.

Partnership Cross Country Morning

On Wednesday 15th March we will be doing a Family Group Cross Country Competition. All three schools will compete on Woolsery Primary School field. The event will begin at approximately 10am starting with the year 6 race and finish around 11:15am-11:30am. All parents are welcome to come and support and to take part in the final fun race.

Preschool Sessions

From the start of the Summer Term (17th April 2023) our charges for non-funded hours in our three Preschool settings will rise to £5 per hour. This is to help offset increased running costs but leaves us very competitive compared with other local providers. Please bear this cost increase in mind when the time comes to book your child’s sessions for the Summer Term.
