Gravity and craters

In science this afternoon, we looked at the force of gravity. We found out that objects have weight on Earth because gravity pulls them down. We also discovered that regardless of size or shape if two objects are dropped at the same time, from the same height they will hit the ground simultaneously.

In our investigation, we found that when objects of different sizes and weights were dropped from the same height, they created different size craters with different depths. We measured the diameter of the crater and the depth and discovered that the lighter the weight the shallower the crater and the heavier the weight the deeper the crater. We used the iPads to film the drop in slow motion so we could play it back.
