Newsletter: 19th April 2024

Welcome Back!

I hope you had a lovely Easter holidays and, despite the start of the summer term feeling more like winter, everyone is ready for an exciting four months!

We have lots going on this term (see the list at the bottom of the Newsletter!), from residentials to trips out, exciting topics to learn about and many music, sports and outdoor learning events planned.

PE Achievements

Mini Marathons

A huge well done to all the children who took part in the mini marathons this week. They showed great determination and tenacity along with showing great support for one another as they took on the challenge of 2.6 miles.

Virtual gymnastics competition results

Just before Easter we had 8 children who qualified for the County final. They all performed really well and the judges stated what a high level all the gymnasts displayed and how difficult it was to separate them. The results were as follows:
Buckland Brewer – Connie 7th, Ada 4th
Parkham – Ben 6th, Raife 5th
Woolsery – Lyla 5th, Scarlett 4th and Seren and Evie were an incredible joint 2nd.
Well done to all of you, we are very proud of your achievements.

Mrs Morrison

Mrs Morrison will be leaving Woolsery School at the end of term to take up a new appointment in South Devon. Mrs Morrison came to us as a Trainee and secured a permanent teaching position with us three years ago. We wish Mrs Morrison every success in the future.

The advertisement for her replacement is currently out and we will let you know as soon as a new teacher has been selected.

Story Bears

Story Bears, who have regular slots for pre-Preschool children at Little Stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park, are coming to Orleigh, Foxdown and Sunflowers on Monday to run a session with our youngest children. I am sure the children will love the whole experience – as always, any feedback from your children next week would be really useful.

Eden Project Visits

As you’re already aware, all three schools will be visiting The Eden Project late rin the term to support their Science curriculum. The cost of this visit is being heavily subsidised by both school and FOBBS, FOPS and FOWS. The remaining element, which is a Parental Contribution, is now on ScoPay for you and we’d be grateful if you could make the payment as soon as possible so we can check whether the parental contribution levels are high enough for the trips to go ahead. Thank you.
