Compass and crafts

Today we had a very busy session. We were playing a game and learning how to use a compass and map reading. The class also wanted to get crafty with some gods eyes are a spiritual and votive object made by weaving a design out of yarn upon a wooden cross. Often several colors are used. They are commonly found in Mexican, Peruvian, and Latin American communities, among both Indigenous and Catholic peoples. Some children showed great resilience and perseverance as they found it really hard but I was so proud of them sticking at it. Some also didn’t want to do but decided to get involved when they could see other that started to come together really well. We had a talk about how sometimes things we do are hard at first but get easier over time.
