London Residential

Next Monday, Year 5 will be off the the national Capital for three days of exploring and finding out about how our democracy works and what London is like as a city, as well as enjoying the rides at LegoLand and watching a West End show.

We will be blogging our posts of the visit throughout the trip but, following Home Office security advice, our posts will be password protected as usual. Please ask at the office for the password so you can see what we’re getting up to! We will share any comments you make on the posts with the children during the trip.

Please could all parents remember the coach company have requested an 08:30am Drive-Away time so children need to be in school at 8am for registration, medication checks, etc. We’re also recommending that all parents with children on the trip turn on alerts for “London Residential 2024” in School Jotter as well so we can update you about return times and so on. To do this, go to settings in the app, then choose Notices, scroll to the bottom of the list and turn on the switch for the residential.

Inspection Report

Buckland Brewer School was inspected at the beginning of March and the report is due to be published on Ofsted’s site today (Friday). Please follow the link below to read my letter to Buckland Brewer parents about the Report. The report itself will be available from ofsted.gov.uk.

Adventure Bude Residential

Just a reminder that next Friday, 3rd May, is the payment deadline for the final installment for your child’s place on the Year 6 Adventure Bude residential. Paperwork is coming out to you in the next day or so, if it hasn’t already: this includes your child’s kit list, medical forms, consents and behaviour agreement. Please return the forms to school as soon as possible so everything can be collated before half term. Thanks.

Art Exhibitions

Hot on the heels of the Burton Art Gallery Schools Exhibition (which I hope you enjoyed looking at!), Mrs Dobson our Art Lead has arranged for each school to hold an exhibition of work in their respective Parish Churches later in the term. This will showcase some inspiring and amazing pieces of art from across each school to the wider community. The exhibitions will be up from 15th June through to 24th June – the more people who can pop in to look at the children’s work and enter a comment in our Visitor Book the better, so please keep this date in your diaries. Huge thanks to the churchwardens and clergy at St Mary & St Benedict in Buckland Brewer, St James in Parkham and All Hallows in Woolsery for agreeing to host this exciting event for us.

Short Newsletter!

Today is a short Newsletter as I’m in Exeter for a meeting all day. This means that I can’t upload Headteacher Award names until later so please check back over the weekend to see who was presented with their awards this week.

Well done to everyone who has received a Headteacher’s Awards in assembly today! As usual, our awards are given in recognition of achievements relating to our six learning animals which represent for children the qualities needed to be a good learner. They are:
