Forest School Friday – Stroxworthy

We had a wonderful Friday afternoon in the sun with Louise. We did den building, played in the mud kitchen, created some beautiful Mother’s Day crafts and made a fantastic volcano ready for Mrs Morrison and our extreme weather in Geography (watch this space!)

What a stunning afternoon we all had on Friday! The sun definitely had it’s hat on. The children made additions to bug hotel, made a quiet spot to listen for nature, made dens and dug mud for mud kitchen.

SCARF Stroxworthy – The Risk Robot

Today we discussed various situations using The Risk Robot. The children then chose their own situations and used The Risk Robot to discuss the best way to make a situation safe.

Stroxworthy – Making a cartouche stage 1.

This afternoon the children made a start on their very own cartouche; with Mrs Coles they created a tray made out of folded paper, then rolled out their clay to the same size and cut the clay ready for second stage of making tomorrow.

Stroxworthy SCARF – Safe or Unsafe?

We had two signs ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’ and Mrs Morrison provided the children with scenarios for them to decide how they felt about each scenario. For example, ‘you go to the park by yourself’. We then discussed everything about their choices. The children worked really well together respecting each others views and opinions.

Stroxworthy SCARF – Story of Zeb

Today we explored the story of Zeb who was a Dee-Litte who was blue with a red nose, unlike the rest of his race who had blue noses. We discussed the story stopping to answer the questions. We concluded that ‘ everyone should be kind to one another’.

Science Tuesday – Evaporation and Condensation

Today we explored condensation and evaporation by breathing into cold mirrors to watch the droplets appear and then we set up an experiment with wet material, we pegged one piece to dry on a line and the other scrunched up in a ball. Which will dry first? 

Stroxworthy Great School Field Birdwatch.

Friday we spent a while on the field with our eyes firmly set looking for birds. We explored the whole field and the skies where many birds were spotted.
