How strong is paper?

In Alminstone this afternoon, we continued looking at properties and their materials. Using identical sized strips of paper, we tested the strength of different types of paper. We were very surprised at how much weight a strip of sugar paper could hold, a staggering 2.5 kilograms.
Interesting — would not have guessed that of sugar paper! Could you see the different structures of the different papers and link those to their differing strengths?
